In 2018, the Board of Supervisors authorized Fairfax County to study a Comprehensive Plan Amendment for the West Falls Church Station Transit Area (“WFCTSA”), including the West Falls Church Metro Station site and the Virginia Tech Campus site, and created a task force made up of members of the adjacent neighborhoods to guide the process. They developed a plan amendment that will allow for:

  • A well-designed transit-oriented development on an underutilized site.

  • Extensive new investment in vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle infrastructure that will help alleviate traffic issues in the area.

  • Walkable retail amenities and restaurants.

  • New active recreation areas, parks and open spaces.

  • A dog park.

  • Much-needed affordable housing.

  • An improved Metro station experience.

The  Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors will vote on the recommended changes at public hearings on June 16th and July 13th.
